The Telugu Desam Party will highlight the development works undertaken in the Telangana region during its rule as part of its campaign in the forthcoming by-elections to the 10 seats in the region, going by decisions taken at a meeting of senior Telangana TDP leaders on Tuesday at the TDLP in Assembly premises.
During the meeting, the party formally decided to contest the by-elections. The meeting also said that a delegation of party leaders would meet the Srikrishna Committee's sub-committee and highlight the injustice caused to the Telangana region in the various irrigation projects.
Talking to media persons after the meeting, senior party MLA Nagam Janardhan Reddy said that the party would focus on educating the people on the development works carried out during the TDP rule in Telangana region.
He said that the TDP campaign would be finalised at a meeting of TDP leaders and cadre on June 25 at NTR Trust Bhavan.
The senior leader said the news that the TDP has already named the candidates for the by-polls is false. He said the party president will formally announce the names of the candidates at the appropriate time.
Nagam said the TDP is contesting the by-polls because of the Congress, and remarked that if the Congress withdraws from the contest, then the TDP will follow suit. He said the Congress has done nothing for the creation of a separate Telangana state, whereas the TDP has struggled for it.
