Voting percentage in the Dubbaka by-election was at a high 78.12% by 4 pm itself, according to reports.
This is expected to reach 90% by the time the polling process ends.
Voting was held following the coronavirus protocol, with voters let in to the polling stations only after thermal screening, hand sanitization, and wearing of gloves and masks.
Special police were seen guarding problematic polling stations in the constituency.
At a few polling stations the EVMs developed technical snags, delaying the voting process. This led to restlessness among the voters who did not want to stand in the queues for long due to the risk of contracting Covid-19.
The results of the by-election will be announced on November 10.
Although 23 candidates are in the fray, the fight is primarily between three candidates - Solipeta Sujatha of the TRS, Raghunandan Rao of the BJP and Ch Srinivas Reddy of the Congress.
