Telangana Finance Minister Etela Rajender has stated that the budget for 2015-16 will be better than that for the last year.
Speaking to media persons on Sunday, Etela admitted that the last year's budget was not very focused, and had some glitches.
Annual budgets were usually decided based on the previous year's expenditure and revenue. Since Telangana was a new state, whatever allocations and expenditures were made were a completely new experiment. Also, the State did not get the required funds from the Centre due to the NDA government too being new.
However, he said that based on previous year's experience, the budget for 2015-16 had been finalised in the best possible manner.
Etela said that budget for 2015-16 would focus more on the welfare and the agriculture sectors. He said that higher stress had been laid on sectors which could generate more employment opportunities.
He said that the allocations had been made as per the priorities set by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
Etela will present the first full-fledged budget of Telangana in the state legislative assembly on March 11. (INN)
