Referring to the statements made by BJP MP Etala Rajender before the P C Ghosh Kalehswaram Commission, BRS leader and former irrigation minister Harish Rao today said that funds for the construction of the Kaleshwaram project were mobilised in coordination with the State Finance Department.
Speaking informally to the media about the ongoing Kaleshwaram Commission inquiry, Rao said, "It is incorrect for Etala Rajender to claim that the Finance Department was not involved in the project. The department was very much a part of it. Perhaps Etala has forgotten some details. Thummala Nageswara Rao, he and I were all members of the sub-committee appointed for the Kaleshwaram project. All three of us signed the sub-committee report. Shouldn't Thummala Nageswara Rao also be summoned by the Commission for inquiry?"
He also said that he would respond in writing to all the questions raised by the Commission.
Rao also alleged that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had extended support to the Andhra Pradesh government on the Banakacherla project, which resulted in huge losses to Telangana. He said that he would soon give a presentation focusing on the losses suffered by the State due to the Godavari-Banakacherla project.
He also said that he would make another presentation detailing the debts incurred by the Congress government.
