The BJP has welcomed the negative comments made by the Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan against the "failure" of the state government to contain the spread of Covid-19.
The spokesperson of the party Krishna Sagar Rao said that the KCR government should now feel ashamed and mend its ways so as to handle the pandemic better.
Pointing out that the Governor herself was a doctor, he said that the First Citizen of the state had understood the "criminal negligence" shown by the state government in containing the spread of the virus.
He said that the Governor had written letters to the state government on a couple of occasions advising it to increase the basic infrastructure in all the government hospitals of the state to provide Covid-19 treatment. However, they had fallen on deaf ears, and the situation was only going from bad to worse.
Claiming that several deaths were taking place in the colonies and apartment complexes of the state every day now due to the novel coronavirus, Rao alleged that there was no mechanism in the state to even gather the details of those deaths, forget prevent them.
The Governor had then resorted to speaking against the state government publicly now as she was left with no option but to expose the failures of the government before the people of the state.
He demanded that the Chief Minister give his explanation on the issues raised by the Governor, publicly.
