Y S Sharmila has found firm supporters for her new party in the members of the Telangana Auto Drivers' Joint Action Committee (JAC).
The JAC has welcomed the launch of new the party and has announced its decision to confer the monikers "Telangana Nightingale" and "Telangana Rising Star" on the leader soon, for her "bold decision" to "live and die" for the cause of the state.
JAC convenor Mohammed Amanullah Khan announced in a press statement that the JAC had also decided to support Sharmila's proposed 3-day hunger strike in Hyderabad from April 15 (which is being organised to demand that the TRS government issue job notifications for the vacant government job posts in the state without further delay).
He also said that he had been to Khammam along with some of his supporters to attend the
massive public meeting convened by Sharmila on April 9 in a show of support for the leader's decision to float a political party in Telangana.
"Several JAC members, including myself, had met Y S Sharmila at her Lotus Pond residence a month back and had held lengthy discussions with her. We had sought her clarification on several matters affecting us and our livelihoods. We found her answers to be favourable as she promised that her party would support the just and reasonable demands put forth by our union. She also said that she would join in our struggle directly as and when necessary. We believe this new party is needed to snatch power from the current regime," Khan added.
Recalling how the auto drivers' unions had supported major leaders like former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N T Rama Rao and current Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao when they had launched new political parties, he claimed that the unions' support had played a critical role each time in helping the leaders come to power.
"We hope that Y S Sharmila's party comes to power with a thumping majority in the 2023 Assembly elections to end the current government's unjust rule," the union leader said.
