T, AP Govts Work For Telugus Safe Return From Iraq

Both the governments are working with the Ministry of External Affairs, with AP CM Naidu offering to bear the costs for the safe return of Telugus.

The Governments of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday intensified the efforts to bring back the Telugus stranded in trouble-hit Iraq.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has directed Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma to stay in touch with the Ministry of External Affairs and the Embassy of India in Baghdad to ensure the safe return of Telugus stranded in the Iraqi capital and other cities of the war-hit country.

He asked the Chief Secretary to also arrange for the safe return of those who went on invalid documents.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Minister for NRI Affairs Palle Raghunath Reddy told media persons that he had spoken to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Tuesday seeking her help in bringing back Telugus from Iraq.

He said Chief Minster Nara Chandrababu Naidu had offered to bear the financial burden for the safe return of Telugus. He added that the Andhra Pradesh Government was in touch with the MEA and also with Iraqi officials on the issue. (INN)
