The Telangana Rashtra Samithi, on Tuesday, warned the state government of serious consequences if it fails to permit the peaceful conduct of the "Chalo Assembly" rally proposed to be held on June 14.
Talking to reporters at the Assembly's media point, TRS deputy floor leader T Harish Rao said that the TRS and other pro-Telangana outfits have always held peaceful agitations in the past. Therefore, denial of permission for the proposed "Chalo Assembly" rally, while citing a fear of prospective violence was ridiculous, it said. He said that the TPJAC and TRS want to submit a memorandum to the government by taking out a rally to the Assembly. However, by denying a peaceful protest, the government was trying to provoke the sentiments of the Telangana supporters, he said.
Harish Rao said that the TRS would ensure the peaceful conduct of Chalo Assembly rally if the government permits the same. However, he alleged that the Congress government was trying to suppress the Telangana voice by not permitting peaceful agitations.
The TRS MLA demanded that the Congress ministers and MLAs from the Telangana region prevail upon Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to permit the Chalo Assembly rally. He said when a group of TRS, BJP and CPI MLAs met the Chief Minister seeking permission for the rally, he left the decision to the Hyderabad City Police. Harish Rao alleged that by doing so, the Chief Minister was trying to flee away from his responsibilities.
Harish Rao warned that the Chief Minister himself will be responsible for the consequences that would arise if the Chalo Assembly rally was not permitted.
The TRS leader also condemned TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu for not paying homage to the Telangana martyrs. (INN)
