Police on Sunday arrested a few advocates when they tried to barge into a centre at the Exhibition Grounds in Nampally where examination for the recruitment of district and sessions judges was being conducted.
The advocates from Telangana region, under the aegis of Telangana Advocates Joint Action Committee, were attempting to disrupt the examination after alleging that there was improper representation in the judiciary from Telangana.
The High Court, despite calls of boycott from the TAJAC, had gone ahead and conducted the examination throughout the state at 4 centres, namely Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Tirupati and Visakhapatnam.
Hyderabad Commissioner of Police A K Khan had personally supervised the bandobust at the examination centre at the Exhibition Grounds after he had imposed Section 144 in the city on Saturday.
According to official information, 67.65% of the total candidates appeared for the examination in Hyderabad. Vijayawada saw 64.74% candidates attending, while 65.73% took the examination in Tirupati. Visakhapatnam saw the highest turnout with 72.41% of the aspirants taking the examination.
At the Exhibition Grounds, a few Telangana advocates had torn their hall tickets to register their protest, while others had staged a dharna by squatting on the road.
