Adivasis Want Lambadas Deleted From ST List, Launch Stir

The Adivasi Porata Samithi launched a movement named "Maa Voollo Maa Rajyam" today for the removal of the Lambada caste in Telangana from the ST list.

The Adivasi Porata Samithi launched a movement named "Maa Voollo Maa Rajyam" today.

The Samithi leaders first met Chief Secretary S K Joshi and discussed with him the removal of the Lambada caste from the ST list.

The Chief Secretary said that it was not possible to remove the Lambadas from the list. The Samithi leaders then declared that the discussions with the Chief Secretary had failed and that they didn't get any clarity on their demands from the government. They said that they would therefore launch a movement from today.

They also said that they would stage protest programs on June 2, Telangana Formation Day.
