The TDP will organise a cycle rally from 3 to 5 January in all the 294 Assembly constituencies, to protest against the government's inaction over the liquor syndicate.
"The rally is aimed at exposing the alleged nexus between politicians and liquor mafia," TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu told reporters at NTR Trust Bhavan, in Hyderabad, on Friday.
He demanded that the government make public the ACB's report on the liquor mafia, and also wanted to know how state Congress President Botsa Satyanarayan could get permission for 31 liquor shops.
Andhra Pradesh has occupied the No. 1 position in the sale of liquor in the country during the Congress' tenure, Naidu said, and accused the state government of violating the High Court's directions in this regard.
Demanding that the state government disclose the Anti Corruption Bureau's report, which recently conducted raids on the members of the liquor syndicate across the state, Naidu appealed to the government to make efforts for the shut-down of all unauthorized belt shops.
He slammed the Centre for shirking the responsibility of making a strong law to prevent corruption in the country.
Describing corruption as a bigger menace than terrorism, Naidu blamed the Central government for its lack of commitment on the Lokpal and Lokayukta Amendment Bill. He reiterated that the TDP would fight for a stronger anti-corruption law. (INN)
