As we
suggested this morning was most likely to happen, the TDP Telangana MLAs, led by Nagam Janardhana Reddy, today decided to postpone their resignations, upon "discussions with their Congress counterparts".
Reddy said that they were completely committed to the Telangana cause, but that they wanted their resignations to result in a constitutional crisis and not in by-elections. So unless almost all legislators quit, their resignations would not serve any purpose, he said.
He said that the TDP legislators were all committed to the JAC resolution of January 27, and that they would soon hand over all their resignations to Professor Kodandaram, Convenor of the Telangana JAC, to be submitted at an appropriate time.
Reddy said that the TDP would resign concurrently with the Congress MLAs, and it was upon the suggestion of the Congress leaders that they decided to wait for the time being. He said that creating a constitutional crisis was the only way that Telangana would be achieved.
The Telangana JAC meanwhile said that those Telangana legislators who did not resign will not receive any co-operation from the JAC henceforth.
