The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has suspended its AP MLC Deepak Reddy, who was recently arrested in Hyderabad for his alleged involvement in a land forgery case there.
The decision was taken by the party leadership at a TDP Co-ordination Committee convened by the Chief Minister and party supremo N Chandrababu Naidu at his residence in Vijayawada today.
TDP Andhra Pradesh President K Kala Venkata Rao announced the decision to the media.
The meeting discussed the Deepak Reddy issue for about an hour. Naidu is learnt to have made it clear that there was no question of keeping in the party those who are facing corruption charges.
It may be mentioned that Deepak Reddy is the nephew of the influential TDP MP and businessman J C Diwakar Reddy. Deepak Reddy was elected as a member of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative council in March this year.
The Co-ordination Committee also discussed the two ministers from Visakhapatnam district Ganta Srinivasa Rao and Ayyanna Patrtudu indulging in open criticism of each other. Naidu expressed his anger over the ministers airing their views publicly instead of bringing the matters to the party high command.
