TDP leader Yerraballi Dayakar Rao met party chief N Chandrababu Naidu this morning to debate over his proposal of obstructing Y S Jaganmohan Reddy's 'Odarpu' yatra in the Telangana region.
Earlier, hell had broken loose when Jagan announced that he was willing to extend his yatra into the Telangana region, beginning from Warangal, on the 28th of this month.
TDP leader Dayakar Rao reproved the announcement, saying that in the first place nobody had died for YSR in Telangana (the Odarpu yatra is meant to console bereaved families of those who died of grief over YSR's death); and secondly, while many students and employees lost their lives fighting for Telangana, Jagan never came forward to console them. He warned of severe repercussions if the tour plans were carried out, and he also declared that there would be no hesitation to disrupt the yatra.
The party was split in opinion after Nandamuri Harikrisha wrote a letter to the TDP chief condemning Rao's decision to obstruct Jagan's tour calling it "irresponsible, unconstitutional and undemocratic". Harikrishna received support from several leaders post his submission of the letter, including Nannapaneni Rajakumari who said that it is a question of freedom, and everyone has a right to reach any region within democratic India. If Chandrababu Naidu & Chiranjeevi can go on tours then why not Jagan, she questioned.
Top leaders Nagam Janardhan Reddy and Revanth Reddy said they will look into the matter, explaining that it was a matter of individual opinions and that each needed further evaluation. Govardhan Reddy opined that any agitation during the tour will bring unrest to late YSR's soul, and that Jagan would be better off avoiding it.
