Congress Has Failed: Naidu
Naidu slams the Congress government for being insensitive to AP farmers' plights and the injustice of the Krishna Tribunal verdict
Hyderabad | 10th January 2011
Alleging that the central and the state governments are involved in scams worth thousands of crores of rupees, TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday said that the money could have been spent on schemes for the welfare of the poor and the downtrodden.
Talking to media persons after participating in the `Rythukosam’ rally at Tadepalligudem in the West Godavari district, the former chief minister alleged that scams have become a part of the congress' rule.
He added that every so often a major scam breaks out where crores of rupees are swindled. Naidu said that the ministers and leaders of both the centre and state governments are looting the public, and that they had failed to give any solace to the people of the country.
"The farmers in the state are resorting to suicide, having fallen into a debt trap, and yet the government has failed to take notice of their plight," says Naidu.
Rampant corruption has resulted in price rise, he said. He charged the government of having failed to check the prices of essential commodities.
Naidu had travelled in the Secunderabad-Kakinada Goutami Express in the wee hours on Monday to participate in the 'Rythukosam’ rallies held in East Godavari, West Godavari and Khammam districts from January 10 to 12. The rallies have been organised to urge the government to announce adequate remunerative packages for the rain-hit farmers.
He lashed out at the congress government for not representing the state’s interests before the Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal, over the sharing of River Krishna's waters. The verdict has left the state suffering a grave injustice, he opined.
Reacting to the news of Y S Jaganmohan Reddy staging a dharna at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, against the Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal verdict, Naidu said that the Kadapa leader might as well stage the dharna at the samadhi of his father, the late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, whose government, he said, had failed to properly argue the state’s case before the Tribunal.
