Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal on Wednesday charged the Congress-led UPA government at the centre of reeking of corruption.
Badal was speaking to media persons after he arrived in the city to meet Telugu Desam Party President N Chandrababu Naidu and congratulate him on his successful 'Satyagraha' taken up to pressurize the state government to revise its compensation package for rain-hit farmers.
The Punjab Chief Minister charged that the farmers not only in Andhra Pradesh, but across the country were reeling under hardships because of the total neglect they had been facing under the Congress-led government at the centre and in the states where the party was in power.
He said that it was high time that the government woke up to the farmers' problems and changed its behavior and approach towards them.
TDP sources say that Mr Badal has broached the subject of launching a nation-wide movement against the central government to highlight the problems of the farmers, and thus help them. Naidu is believed to have taken an instant liking to this proposal.
The sources further say that modalities of the nation-wide movements will be worked out soon after the TDP's Rythukosam program in Guntur district concludes.
