Minister For Housing Kanna Lakshminarayana on Monday objected to Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President N Chandrababu Naidu's decision of launching a pro-farmer demonstration in New Delhi on February 8th, and criticised him for attempting to prove that the Congress governments at the state and at the centre were corrupt.
Speaking to media persons at the Secretariat on Monday, Lakshminarayana spewed venom at Naidu for alleging that the Congress was associated with various scams and corruption charges.
The minister said that when corruption charges were levied against Naidu, he had taken refuge behind the courts by obtaining stay orders in most of the cases to cover up complaints during his 9-year stint as the Chief Minister.
In the name of Janmabhoomi, Clean And Green Scheme and Food For Work programs, Naidu allegedly amassed huge wealth which the minister claimed was worth being covered by the famous Tehelka news website.
"How far is Naidu justified in levying corruption charges against the ruling party?" the minister asked.
Lakshminarayana said that Naidu's words had no substance.
Incidentally, Naidu has also decided to be part of another dharna organised by a set of national parties on February 9th in New Delhi.
The minister also found fault with Chandrababu Naidu for ignoring party seniors and leaders like Pedda Rattiah while allotting a Rajya Sabha seat, and giving priority to Nellore heavy-weight and business tycoon Sujana Chowdhury instead.
The choice of Sujana Chowdhury showed that Naidu’s support for farmers was nothing but an attempt to sway people towards himself, the minister claimed.
He also said that during Naidu's tenure, farmers' problems were overlooked.
