A leader of the main opposition party in Andhra Pradesh, the TDP, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, on Sunday said that nowhere in the world was a Special investigation Team (SIT) formed to investigate the full five-year rule of an elected government.
Speaking to mediapersons, Yanamala alleged that the SIT was another in a series of conspiracies being hatched by the ruling YSR Congress Party to divert the attention of the people of the State from the ongoing trial of Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy in 11 corruption cases against him.
He said that the trial of Reddy in various criminal courts was nearing completion, and the YSRCP leaders were frantically trying to deflect the spotlight from them.
Yanamala said that the state government had constituted three SITs, six committees and a cabinet sub-committee on the TDP rule during the last nine months of its rule, and had yet not been able to prove even a single allegation against the previous government. The government had still gone ahead and created a fresh SIT, clearly showing that it was only trying to malign the image of the TDP.
He also said that his party would seek a CBI inquiry into the nine-month-long rule of the YSR Congress Party in the High Court soon as the Supreme Court had observed that economic offences were even more dangerous than murders.
