Film actor and TDP leader Nandamuri Balakrishna, on Wednesday, said that the Telugu Desam Party was not against the formation of Telangana.
Talking to media persons after hoisting the national flag at Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital in Banjara Hills, to mark the 66th Indian Independence Day celebrations, Balakrishna said that the party would stand by the resolution on Telangana statehood made in its manifesto.
Stating that the TDP has already written to the Centre about the Telangana issue, he said that the TDP was ready to send it another letter favouring the Telangana cause "if required".
Balakrishna also hailed party president N Chandrababu Naidu's
BC declaration - of allotting 100 seats for the community in the next Assembly elections - and the announcement on the categorisation of Scheduled Castes.
Stating that he would continue as an active worker in the TDP, Balakrishna reiterated that he was ready to take up any responsibility in the party, and said he would work to strengthen it.
The actor refused to comment on Roads & Buildings Minister Dharmana Prasad Rao's resignation after the CBI named him as an accused in the VANPIC case.
He also announced that his son Mokshagna would join the Telugu film industry after his is done with his studies. (INN)
