Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu, on Thursday, said that his party was firm on its commitment of providing 100 seats to the BC community in the next general elections.
However, Naidu said that it would be the responsibility of the community to elect its leaders.
He reiterated that the Telugu Desam Party was committed to the upliftment and development of the BC community. He was speaking after being felicitated by BC organisations at NTR Trust Bhavan, for his announcement that his party would give tickets to 100 candidates from the Backward Classes.
Naidu said that party tickets would be distributed among the prospective candidates one year prior to the elections.
While Naidu's speech was on, the power supply went off for a few minutes. Reacting to this, the TDP supremo sarcastically said that the state government, which has failed to provide even electricity to the people, should distribute lamps to every citizen.
"It is quite unfortunate for the people of the state to have a chief minister (N Kiran Kumar Reddy) whose administration has failed even to provide power to them," he said. (INN)
