TDP leader Sujana Chowdhary on Sunday resigned from the membership of Rajya Sabha.
Chowdhary who, along with two other Rajya Sabha MPs of TDP, is under criticism from both within and outside the party for abstaining from voting in the Upper House over the FDI issue, has sent his resignation letter to party president N Chandrababu Naidu.
It may be mentioned that Chowdhary met Naidu at Adilabad on Saturday to clarify his stand on the issue. Admitting that it was a mistake to skip the voting, he denied that it was done deliberately to help the UPA. Chowdhary announced that he would continue to serve the party despite his resignation from the Rajya Sabha membership.
Naidu is likely to take a decision on his resignation on Monday. However, party sources indicate that the TDP chief might reject his resignation letter as it would further complicate the controversy. If Chowdary's resignation gets accepted, then other two members T Devender Goud and G Sudha Rani too would be forced to follow suit. (INN)
