Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President N Chandrababu Naidu convened a politburo meeting on Thursday morning to discuss various issues pertaining to the the party's activities.
Nagam Janardhan Reddy was present at the meeting, dispelling speculation on whether or not the rebel leader would respond to the call for a high-level party meet.
The leaders gathered are expected to discuss the particulars of the various public events that the TDP has chalked out for the month of May.
Naidu is scheduled to visit the market yards in the districts of Krishna, Guntur and Prakasam to communicate with the agriculturists there and pledge his support to the hapless ryots.
The TDP annual convention Mahanadu will be held at Gandipet from 27th to 29th May, wherein the party's resolutions, drafted by an 8-member committee headed by Y Ramakrishnudu, will be introduced. Every member of the TDP politburo is expected to attend this event.
Another major issue that the TDP members are rumoured to address during the polituburo meet on Thursday is Nagam Janardhan Reddy. Telangana Nagara, the mega event that was held by Nagam in Nagarkurnool on Monday, evoked mixed reactions from the party members.
A number of TDP members expressed displeasure over the fact that Nagam was forging ahead with his agitations for a separate Telangana without consulting the Telangana TDP Forum members. Nagam is also charged with having made defamatory remarks about the TDP at the Nagara.
The presence of Nagam at the meeting raised doubts if the leaders would indeed discuss the corrective measures to be taken against him, if any. And confrontation, as we all know, is easier said than done.
