In a strange move, TDP floor leader in GHMC Singireddy Srinivas Reddy on Tuesday threatened that his party's corporators would destroy the Mee-Seva Centres if they were conjoined with the Citizens Service Centres of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.
In a memorandum submitted to GHMC Mayor Mohammad Majid Hussain, Singireddy demanded that the Mee-Seva Centres should not be established in the Citizens Service Centres of GHMC, to issue birth and death certificates.
Presently, the GHMC is issuing the Birth and Death Certificates to the citizens through the Mee-Seva Centres, and also through the Citizens Services Centres of GHMC.
While the Mee Seva authorities collect Rs. 45 per certificate, the GHMC collects only Rs. 20 each.
Singireddy said that any abnormal delay in issuing the certificates would affect the reputation of the GHMC.
"The GHMC has bagged an award from the Central Government for immaculate usage of the Citizens Service Centres.
"Instead of strengthening the Citizens Service Centres, what is the use of establishing the Mee-Seva Centres conjoint with the CSC?" he asked.
"I request not to establish the Mee-Seva Centres in conjoinment with the Citizens Service Centres of GHMC, failing which we, the TDP corporators of GHMC, would be forced to take drastic steps of destroying the hardware and software material of the Mee-Seva Centres, and we will also stage a dharna in front of your office till the Mee-Seva Centre is evacuated," Singireddy warned.
