JPC Probe In 2G Scam

TDP leader Yanamala Ramakrishnudu demanded a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into the 2G spectrum scam.
Hyderabad | 23rd November 2010
Telugu Desam Party (TDP) politburo member Yanamala Ramakrishnudu on Monday demanded that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh order a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into allocation of 2G spectrum scam.

Talking to media persons at the NTR Trust Bhavan, Ramakrishnudu alleged that the central government had ordered for a Public Accounts Committee probe only to divert the attention of people.

Ramakrishnudu demanded that the Prime Minister give an explanation to people of the country as the Comptroller and Auditor General report had indicted former telecommunications minister A Raja for causing loss to exchequer to the tune of Rs. 1.76 lakh crore.

"When the entire country is awaiting an explanation from the Prime Minister on 2G spectrum in Parliament, Dr. Singh has come to participate in the birthday celebrations of Satya Sai Baba in Puttaparthy," Ramakrishnudu wondered.

Ramakrishnudu demanded that the government initiate criminal proceedings against Raja and take steps for recovery of funds misappropriated in the scam.

"If the government has any commitment, it should order JPC probe into the entire scam and come clean on the issue," the TDP leader stated.
