Andhra Pradesh minister and YSR Congress leader Mopidevi Venkataramana today alleged that the Leader Of Opposition of the state Chandrababu Naidu was making false allegations to get free publicity.
He said that the state government was working very hard to get rid of the coronavirus from the state, but that Naidu was using the situation to promote his party and himself.
Addressing media persons at the state secretariat, he said that the sleeper cells of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) were quite likely behind the spread of the coronavirus in the state.
He also posed several questions of the former CM. He asked Naidu what happened to the funds collected by him (Naidu) from the farmers and the public on the issue of the state capital relocation.
He also asked Naidu why he was not cooperating with the state government at a time when the people of the state were facing so many problems.
He added that the statement of Naidu that the swearing-in ceremony of Justice Kanagaraj as the new State Election Commissioner at the Raj Bhavan had led to the spread of the coronavirus to four employees of the Raj Bhavan was unfortunate, factually unsubstantiated and opportunistic.
Commenting on the issue of Naidu's allegations of financial impropriety in the purchase of Covid-19 testing kits, he said that Naidu's demand for an inquiry into the issue was unwarranted as the state government had made it clear to the supplier of the kits that it would buy the kits at the same price that the other states of the country were paying.
