Chief Minister K Rosaiah has directed the health machinery to make efforts for containing the spread of Alzheimer's disease, the most common form of dementia in the state.
Talking to reporters after convening a meeting with health officials, the Chief Minister directed the officials to create awareness on Alzheimer's disease at the early stage itself as it poses a great threat to nation.
Rosaiah said the most commonly recognized symptom in disease was the inability to acquire new memories, such as difficulty in recalling recently-observed facts.
The meeting took a decision to conduct a rally on Necklace Road on 12th September, to mark World Alzheimer's Day. The rally is aimed at creating awareness on Alzheimer's disease and its prevention.
Principal Secretary of Health J Satyanarayana, Chief Secretary P V Ramesh and other officials from health department attended the meeting.
