GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi today expressed grief over the tragic accident in Jawaharnagar in which three sanitation workers lost their lives.
She met sanitation officials and the Ramky Project management to review the incident.
During the meeting, the Ramky Project management briefed the Mayor on the causes of the accident and assured that appropriate precautions would be taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
The Ramky Project Director described the incident as unexpected and reiterated that all necessary safety measures were being implemented. He said that, as per the terms of the public works contract, compensation of Rs 15 lakh would be provided to each affected family. As part of this, Rs 4 lakh had already been sanctioned per victim as the first installment, he said.
The Mayor also personally reviewed the sanitation conditions in the city, and urged everyone to remain vigilant in maintaining cleanliness. She said that the city must be kept especially clean in view of Hyderabad hosting the upcoming Miss World competition, and warned the gathering that she would monitor sanitation management daily and that strict action would be taken if lapses were found.
She instructed officials to submit daily reports to her.
