Claiming that the people of Telangana are now getting desperate and resorting to suicides, senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha Member V Hanumantha Rao on Saturday appealed to the Seemandhra leaders to "realise the seriousness of the situation" and to not obstruct the formation of a separate state.
Speaking to media persons at his residence in Amberpet, VH stated that the suicide of Yadireddy of Moinabad was a reflection of the growing desperation of the people, and that Seemandhra leaders must take note of the incident.
"You must realise the gravity of the situation and stop obstructing the separate statehood demand. I appeal to your conscience and ask you to relent," the Rajya Sabha Member said.
The senior leader also said that the relations among the people of all the 3 regions were deteriorating rapidly, and that this must be prevented.
"It is very sad that the situation is going from bad to worse, with leaders from Seemandhra and Telangana speaking against each other with increasing vehemence. This must be stopped, and it can only happen when the Seemandhra leaders give in to the separate statehood demand," VH said.
The senior leader also 'advised' Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha to visit Medak district and console the families of those who had committed suicide for the sake of Telangana.
VH held the Resident Commissioner of Andhra Pradesh Bhavan in New Delhi responsible for the
unsavoury incidents of Thursday when Telangana Rashtra Samithi MLA Harish Rao lost his cool and slapped the officer Chander Rao for shifting Yadireddy's body directly to the airport instead of allowing it in the Bhavan for the leaders to pay their respects. (INN)
