A delegation of YSR Congress leaders, on Thursday, submitted a memorandum to Home minister Sabitha Indra Reddy, seeking action against a Srikakulam Sub-Inspector of Police and a Deputy Superintendent of Police for their alleged high-handedness towards Srikakulam MLA Krishna Das and his wife during the dharna staged on August 31 against the power crisis.
Talking to media persons at the Secretariat after submitting a memorandum to the Home minister, YSRCP deputy floor leader Shobha Nagireddy condemned the police's attitude and towards Krishna Das and his wife. She said that the YSR Congress has sought strong disciplinary action against the SI and the DSP for the violation of the MLA's rights.
She added that the YSR Congress would also move a privilege motion with Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar, regarding the violation of the MLA's rights.
Shobha Nagi Reddy said that the YSR Congress would call a district bandh if the government fails to take action against the guilty police officials. She said that the Home minister assured the delegation that she would take action the officials after conducting an inquiry into the incident. (INN)
