Activists of the NSUI today held a protest in front of the residence of State Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy demanding that she solve the problems being faced by the students of the State.
NSUI State president Venkat Balmuri alleged that Reddy was responsible for the death of IIIT Basara student Sanjay Kiran two days back.
He said that the minister had failed to take action against the food contractor of the IIIT, and that the negligence of the minister had led to the death of the Sanjay Kiran.
He said that the life of Sanjay could not be saved even after Rs. 14 lakh being spent on treatment.
He alleged that incidents of food poisoning were taking place in different residential schools, colleges and the IIIT at Basara due to the negligence of the State government in regulating the affairs of the food contractors.
He also alleged that the Education Minister was not giving an appointment to them to enable them to submit a representation on the problems being faced by the students.
He demanded that minister solve the problems of the students of the residential institutions immediately, and warned that the NSUI would organize protests if their demands were not met.
