Tension erupted in Tadipatri town in Andhra Pradesh's Anantapur district today after a group of supporters of local MLA and YSR Congress Party leader Kethireddy Pedda Reddy clashed with the supporters of former MLA and TDP leader J C Prabhakar Reddy.
The trouble began when Pedda Reddy alleged that a follower of Prabhakar Reddy, Kiran, was defaming him and his wife Ramadevi on the social media. The MLA and his supporters went to Prabhakar Reddy's house to confront him and his supporters.
While the former TDP MLA himself was not home at the time of the incident, the group found and attacked Kiran.
In retaliation, Prabhakar Reddy's supporters burnt the chair that Pedda Reddy had used when he had visited the former's residence before.
Things took an even more violent turn when the two groups then started pelting stones at each other, which resulted in the damage of some vehicles.
The police reached the spot and dispersed the crowd to prevent any further violence.
In an effort to maintain law and order in the area, Anantpur SI Satya Yesubabu also imposed Section 144 in Tadipatri.
