Former minister T Jeevan Reddy demanded that the Congress High Command take severe disciplinary action against Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy for speaking against the party's decision over the formation of a Telangana state.
Talking to reporters in the Assembly premises here on Saturday, Jeevan Reddy said that the CM should have resigned from the post before campaigning for Samaikyandhra.
He said that it was immoral on the part of Kiran Kumar Reddy to use the Rachabanda programme as a political platform and speak against the state's division.
He said that the CM should focus on completing the pending works before the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, instead of making efforts to stop the formation of Telangana.
Jeevan Reddy said that the Telangana statehood decision was taken by Congress president Sonia Gandhi, and that Kiran Kumar Reddy, who he said had became the CM "due to her" should abide by her decision.
He also dismissed statements regarding the status of Hyderabad.
He said that the Congress Working Committee, in its resolution, had clarified that Hyderabad would be part of the Telangana state though it would serve as the joint capital for a period of "only" 10 years. Therefore, the debates on the status of Hyderabad are irrelevant and unnecessary, he said. (INN)
