T-Fiber Should Cover All Villages: KTR To Officials

Minister K T Rama Rao today instructed the concerned officials to expand the works of the Telangana Fiber Grid (T-Fiber) project to cover all the rural areas of Telangana.
Hyderabad | 8th April 2021
Telangana IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao today instructed the concerned officials to expand the works of the Telangana Fiber Grid (T-Fiber) project to cover all the municipalities and villages of the state. This, he said, would help the residents of the state's rural pockets access high-speed internet with ease.

At a high-level review meeting of the Telangana Fiber Grid Corporation Board, held at the T-Hub, the minister also asked the officials to speed up the remaining works of the project.

The officials were then asked to submit a survey report on the status of the project's implementation within the limits of Greater Hyderabad as part of the expansion.

KTR stated that the TRS government had already decided to provide internet to every rural household as well as to every household in the GHMC area, and added, "Our objective is to see that the rural residents of Telangana are also able to avail themselves of the high-speed internet connection provided through T-Fiber. As per the instructions of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, internet access must be provided to all the Rythu Vedikas being set up in the state, too. The active coordination of the officials involved in the effort is a must for the completion of the project."

The officials informed the minister that the works were nearing completion in the villages covered by the Mission Bhagiratha program, and assured him that the remaining villages too would be able to enjoy internet access by August. They told him that five Rythu Vedikas had already been covered by the project.

KTR then instructed them to ensure that the 30,000 government offices in Telangana get access to the internet through T-Fiber on a priority, by June.

The ongoing works are part of the TRS regime's efforts to realise its aim of creating a "Digital Telangana". T-Fiber will, once completed, provide affordable and high-speed broadband connectivity and digital services to 33 districts, which will cover 589 mandals. Projections suggest that 83.58 lakh households will benefit from the project.
