Stating that the Swiss Challenge System was not suitable for the construction of the proposed Andhra Pradesh capital Amaravathi, former Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary I Y R Krishna Rao alleged that the AP government had entered an agreement with Singapore companies against the public interest.
Speaking to the media on Sunday, Rao said that the state would incur heavy losses due to the Swiss Challenge System, and that he had addressed a letter to Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu in this regard.
He said that the AP government had entered an agreement with Singapore companies violating the Swiss Challenge System's rules and regulations. He had mentioned all his objections in regard to the Singapore companies in the letter addressed to the CM, he stated.
He said that he had also mentioned in the letter that the state government was trying to bring some companies into the scene through the backdoor.
Seeing the ongoing developments, the former Chief Secretary said that he was doubting whether the state government was following the rules with regard to the Singapore companies. He said the best evidence for his doubts was a news item published in an international paper saying that Singapore had become a centre to transform Indian black money into white in Singapore.
