Legislative Council Chairman K Swamy Goud, who suffered an injury to his right eye during the Governor's address in the Telangana Assembly budget session on Monday morning due to a headphone flung by Congress MLA Komatireddy Venkat Reddy hitting him, said that he had remained calm till the completion of the Governor's address though the injury had caused him severe pain.
Goud received the injury when Reddy hurled his headphones at Governor E S L Narasimhan protesting the latter's speech but hit the former.
Speaking to the media after the Governor's speech in the House, Goud said that he went to Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital for an eye test upon the suggestion of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. The doctors said that it was a simple injury and asked him to take care for a few days to ensure that the swelling did not aggravate.
Goud said that though everyone had a right to lodge their protest in a democracy, one cannot resort to violent acts.
