In the 5-minute video whose copies were released by his lawyer, Nithyananda claimed that the sting was part of a conspiracy against him and the ashram. He said he and his well-wishers had set out to find the truth behind the charges. He also appealed to his devotees to remain calm, and not make hurried decisions. The swami said he would soon get to the bottom of things and speak out.
Also, in a press conference held before the release of the video, authorities of the Nithyananda Dhyanapeetam said they were contemplating legal action against those responsible for the defamation. They dismissed reports of land disputes between the Maran family and the ashram, as well as allegations of human rights violations in the ashram.
