Comparing municipal workers cleansing the city to gods, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today saluted them for their commitment.
Formally inaugurating the much-hyped "Swachch Hyderabad - Swachch Telangana" along with Governor E S L Narasimhan, union minister Bandaru Dattatreya and other leaders at Hitex on Saturday, KCR lauded the municipal sweepers for their everyday cleanliness drive.
"We have to salute them for cleaning the city and making it dirt- and stash-free," KCR stated. "We have to recognize the services of the workers. Indeed it is our duty to help them in cleaning our own city."
He exuded confidence that the clean drive with the collective efforts of the people would stay a success, and called upon the people to participate voluntarily to make the city clean.
The Chief Minister extended thanks to the Governor and Bandaru Dattatreya for their support.
Dattatreya made efforts to sanction Rs 75 crores for the Swachch Hyderabad program through NITI Ayog, KCR stated.
He expressed concern that the historic city had a large number of people with meager facilities and amenities. (NSS)
