Telangana Home Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali assured the Legislative Assembly today that suggestions for suspension of the use of breathalyser tests for about a month would be examined and a decision taken soon, in view of the coronavirus threat.
Manchireddy Kishan Reddy, the MLA of Ibrahimpatnam, raised the issue during Zero Hour and requested the Home Minister to suspend the breathalyser tests used to identify drunken driving, for about a month. He complained that the police were even using the same straw to test multiple commuters during the tests, which was creating a scare among the people given the rapid spread of the virus.
In reply, the Home Minister said that the suggestion would be examined and action taken after discussions with the police.
