The Supreme Court today granted conditional bail to the ruling YSR Congress Party MP K Raghurama Krishnam Raju from Andhra Pradesh in a sedition case filed against him by the state's CID police.
It said that the charges framed against Raju were not so serious that they required judicial custody, and that it was granting bail to him taking into consideration his health condition.
It however asked Raju to extend his cooperation to the police in the investigation of the case, and asked the government officials to issue a notice to Raju a day before his interrogation.
It said that Raju could appear before the police along with his advocate.
The apex court however asked the MP to not speak to the media or make comments on his social media account.
Senior Supreme Court advocate Mukul Rohatgi argued the case on behalf of Raju.
Earlier, the SC read the report submitted by the three-member committee of the doctors of the Army Hospital. It said that the report did not talk about the reasons behind the injuries on the body of the petitioner.
