The Supreme Court today made crucial remarks on
the Hyderabad encounter in which the four accused in the
Disha murder were gunned down by the police.
The country's apex court asked the Telangana government for its inputs on holding a detailed inquiry into the issue by a retired judge.
It said that it would send a retired judge from Delhi to inquire into the case, and asked the State government to recommend names of retired judges to take up an investigation into the case.
The apex court passed the these orders while hearing two PILs filed by two Supreme Court advocates. The advocates had called the encounter fake and urged the Supreme Court to order an inquiry into it.
Chief Justice S A Bobde said that the court was completely aware of the case, and added that it had already asked retired judge P V Reddy to go into the case, but that the latter had declined to accept the offer.
Senior Supreme Court advocate Mukul Rohatgi argued the case on behalf of the State government. He pleaded with the court to not pass any orders without hearing his arguments. This prompted the court to adjourn the case to Thursday.
