The weather in the city suddenly changed this afternoon with several parts witnessing downpours.
Heavy rains accompanied by gusty winds hit several places in Hyderabad including Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Punjagutta, Ameerpet, S R Nagar, Kukatpally, Khairatabad, Abids, Koti and Dilsukhnagar.
City residents who were reeling under the scorching heat till noon were relieved by the sudden cool weather.
Some districts in the State also received rains accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds.
A trough was progressing from Vidarbha over Telangana to north Tamil Nadu, and under the influence of the trough, there was a possibility of moderate rains in the State for the next three days, the meteorological department said.
However, the met also warned that temperatures would rise further in the next two days. The maximum temperature in the State on Saturday crossed 46 degrees Celsius, and Lakkavaram in Suryapet district recorded the highest maximum temperature of 46.1 degrees Celsius.
The average maximum temperature is also likely to be between 41 and 44 degrees Celsius throughout the first week of June across the State.
The met officials said that strong winds were blowing at low altitudes from the Western directions, leading to the ongoing temperatures.
