Demanding the cancellation of the sub-inspectors' recruitments written test across the state until the government clarifies its stand on the free zone issue, activists allegedly belonging to Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Thursday obstructed Chief Minister K Rosaiah's convoy at Sangareddy in Medak district.
Raising slogans against the CM, the activists demanded that Rosaiah announce the cancellation of the written test across the state immediately, and stated that they would not allow the convoy to proceed until he did so.
The incident took place when Rosaiah was heading towards Sangareddy to inaugurate the new Collectorate building in the district.
Sensing trouble, the police lathi-charged the agitators and tried to disperse them. However, the activists remained adamant, and refused to allow the convoy to move on.
The police then arrested the activists, and shifted them to nearby police station.
The convoy then resumed its journey for the ceremony of the inauguration of the Collectorate building, which has been built at a cost of Rs. 23.70 crore, and is set to house 38 government offices under one roof.
Rosaiah, speaking at the inauguration function, stated that the government must give top priority to reforms in the administration.
He pointed out that many practices being followed in the administration were from a by-gone era, and stated that the services need to be reformed, and that the reform process should be a continuous one.
