Hyderabad | 30th October 2010
Principal Secretary, Social Welfare Department, announced on Saturday that all students registering for renewal of scholarships and fresh scholarships for the year 2010-11, will be given e-mail confirmations on the status of the scholarships.
This is being introduced as a novel feature in the online scholarship system at http://epass.cgg.gov.in with effect from October 30th, 2010 for students. Henceforth, for all applications for renewal and fresh students, email shall be mandatory in addition to the ration card number and the UID number, if available.
The students were also advised to provide their mobile number if they have, so that they could use SMS based services to find out the status of their application. Under the new feature, students will be automatically given an email on every process of their scholarship application such as receipt of an application, forwarding of the application by college verification of the filed officer, sanction of this scholarship by the District welfare officer, and passing of the bill by the treasury officer. In other words, students can see the status of their application not only on the website but also see the emails in the email box.
Students who do not have an email can immediately register in any of the free web mail services such as gmail, yahoo mail, hotmail, rediffmail or any other mail service for free. Students were also advised not to share their user IDs and passwords with others.
