Alleging that the authorities of the SSC Board deliberately caused students to fail by awarding them low marks, many students and their parents on Tuesday staged a protest at the Board office for the second day.
They staged the protest at the office of the Hyderabad District Educational Officer, ransacking it and destroying its furniture and glasses.
The police intervened and arrested the students and their parents, and whisked them away to the Abids Police Station.
Reacting to the parents' demand, Telangana Deputy CM and Education minister Kadiam Srihari said that there was no easy way of adding grace marks. However, the government was contemplating adding grace marks to failed students.
The government might take a decision in this regard on Wednesday or Thursday, it is learnt.
It may be mentioned here that most of the students failed in mathematics. (NSS)
