Parents of Group-1 rankers today urged political parties not to use their children's futures as a tool for political gain.
At a press conference held at the Somajiguda Press Club, the rankers and their parents gathered to share their concerns. Many parents were visibly emotional, expressing distress over the false accusations being made against their children that jobs were secured by paying Rs 3 crore.
"Please do not politicise the Group-1 exam issue. Some leaders are making baseless claims, and those who make such allegations should provide evidence. We have taken loans, skipped meals and worked tirelessly to educate our children. Yet, some political figures are spreading unfounded accusations that candidates bought their positions for Rs 3 crore. We urge you not to jeopardise our children's futures for political agendas," said one parent.
Lalitha, the mother of a candidate who secured the 67th rank, said that her son had achieved his position through dedication and hard work, and criticised leaders for politicising the exam for their own interests.
"We have remained patient and tolerant. This is disheartening. I haven't even seen a bank balance of Rs 30 lakh, let alone Rs 3 crore. We have worked hard to provide for their education. Unfounded accusations should not be made. If anyone has evidence, they should present it to the media," she said.
For the uninitiated, the High Court issued a ruling on September 9 regarding the annulment of the Group-1 Mains results. The court addressed 12 petitions regarding alleged irregularities in the administration and evaluation of the exams. The verdict spanned 222 pages.
