The Telangana Backward Class Welfare Association today warned Congress MP A Revanth Reddy to stay away from veteran BC leader of the party V Hanumantha Rao, after the latter claimed that he was being
harassed by Reddy's supporters for opposing the MP's candidature for the post of TPCC chief.
It also warned Reddy that he would not have any political future in Telangana if he targeted a senior BC leader like VHR.
The association claimed that the callers had mentioned Reddy's name during their conversations, which was "classic evidence" that the latter was behind the calls, and urged the police to invoke the PD Act against him as he was already facing many criminal charges.
Besides this, the association also demanded that the state government file criminal cases against those who made the calls, and that the Congress high command remove the MP from his post at the earliest for attempting to threaten and intimidate Rao.
Yesterday, VHR had filed a complaint against the callers with the Raidurgam police, and urged the police to track the callers making the threatening phone calls to him.
He had also reportedly asked for police protection, claiming that his life was in danger.
