While the Telangana Congress continues to rack its brains over the appointment of the next TPCC President, the run-up is fast becoming a source of massive strife within the party.
Most recently, the
controversial comments made by senior Congress leader and former MP V Hanumantha Rao against MP A Revanth Reddy, who is in Delhi lobbying for the post, have caused an uproar in the party, with many leaders expressing their annoyance at the former for airing the party's dirty laundry publicly, and pointing out that he could have voiced his reservations to the AICC leaders privately instead.
Reports say that the party's high command is also displeased by Rao's outburst, and is likely to issue a show-cause notice to him asking him to provide an explanation for his remarks.
AICC Telangana in-charge Manickam Tagore too inquired about the allegations, and instructed the party's national secretary N S Boseraju to prepare a report on the same.
In recent times, Rao has been lashing out at fellow party leaders regarding the appointment quite frequently. Not only did he question Revanth Reddy's suitability for the post, he also made several shocking allegations against Manickam Tagore, claiming that the latter had been negligent in carrying out the selection process.
VHR reportedly accused Tagore of having submitted a report that did not accurately represent the opinions of the party's leaders regarding the appointment to AICC president Sonia Gandhi, who will take the final call on the matter.
He also alleged that Tagore had received bribes from the aspirants for the post, and was consequently pushing certain candidates unfairly.
