The local body elections in the State would be held in the next 3-4 months after conducting a BC census in Telangana, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said today.
The CM was addressing Congress activists at Gandhi Bhavan, where Mahesh Kumar Goud assumed charge as the president of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC), taking over from him.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister congratulated Goud on assuming the role of TPCC president, calling it a moment of pride for all.
Reflecting on the journey of the Congress in Telangana, Reddy recalled how Sonia Gandhi fulfilled her promise of statehood for Telangana, despite various challenges.
Reddy credited the Congress with now revitalising the State, particularly citing the historic rally at Indravelli as a turning point that brought the Congress back to power.
Under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, he said, the party had implemented key promises, including waiving Rs 2 lakh in farmer loans and depositing Rs 18,000 crore into the accounts of 23 lakh farmers, in what he called a "festival of agriculture".
The Chief Minister also spoke of the implementation of Sonia Gandhi's six guarantees, two of which were fulfilled within 48 hours of assuming power.
"We kept our promise of loan waivers for farmers, bringing smiles to their faces," he said.
The CM also took a jibe at Harish Rao, who had challenged him to resign if the loan waivers were not completed by Independence Day. "Where is that person hiding now?" Reddy asked.
Reddy also promised a Rs 500 bonus for growing fine rice in the upcoming agriculture season.
He also boasted of his government's creating 30,000 jobs within three months of taking power, and of the establishment of the Young India Skill University to train the youth of the State.
Reddy emphasised the need for continued hard work, reminding the gathering that the recent elections were just the semi-finals.
"The finals are in 2029, and we will win when Rahul Gandhi becomes the Prime Minister and the Congress flag flies high at the Red Fort," he said.
The Chief Minister urged the Congress activists to remain vigilant and dedicated until the final victory.
