Minister for Handlooms and Textiles G Prasad Kumar, on Tuesday, stated that the government has taken a decision to write off the loans to handloom weavers' cooperative societies.
Replying to a question pressed by MLA J Ramesh in the Assembly, the minister said that cash credit loans of 25 handloom weavers' cooperative societies in Krishna district were yet to be waived. He said that the proposals pertaining to 32 primary weavers cooperative societies in the district are under consideration.
Of the 32, the claims of 7 primary cooperative societies, amounting to Rs. 89.20 lakhs, have been waived.
Waiver claims of 25 societies, to an extent of Rs. 6.26 crore, have been recommended by the state-level Committee, along with other district claims, for sanction. (INN)
