State Owns 400 Acres, Not HCU: Telangana Government
The CMO stated that the government had reclaimed ownership of the land by winning a case in the Supreme Court.

The Telangana government today responded to criticism from the BRS and the BJP leaders regarding the Kanche Gachibowli land adjoining the Hyderabad Central University (HCU).
It stated that the 400 acres of land proposed to be auctioned belonged to the government, and that the HCU did not own any part of the land in question.
In a statement issued by the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), the government said that it had legally established its ownership in court and reclaimed the property, which had been allotted to a private company 21 years ago, through a legal battle.
It said that the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh government had allotted the land to a private company in 2004, but the current Congress government had reclaimed ownership by winning the case in the Supreme Court.
"A survey report revealed that the University of Hyderabad (HCU) does not own even a single inch of the land," the statement said.
It also said that the auction of the land would not impact the ecosystem, including rock formations, and that no lake existed in the land.
The government claimed that it prioritised sustainable development and environmental conservation in every plan, and accused certain political leaders and real estate groups of misleading students and opposing the project for vested interests.
The CMO also said that any disputes created regarding the land's ownership would amount to contempt of court.
